As some of you know - I used to be in a band. For a long time actually, and several bands. I loved everything about being in a band except one thing... I hated doing photo shoots. I hated them with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns! As a result, I was fairly difficult at photo shoots. I didn't wanna be there, I didn't wanna get my pic taken - and I didn't care who knew it. Well, the other night, I had the rather surreal experience of taking some promotional shots for the band Chasing Legacy. These guys couldn't have been better to work with. They were as different from the way I was as they could have possibly been. Now, I don't know if they wanted to be doing a photo shoot, but I do know they were cooperative, professional and all around cool to be around! What I didn't realize way back when, was that the photographer is only half the story - one part of the team. The photographer needs the subject or subjects to work with them in order to create amazing pics. Thats what these guys were doing - they were helping me, working with me so we could create some great shots for them to use to promote their band!
I really enjoyed shooting the band - it was kind of nice to be involved in the music scene again in some way, and I really hope to shoot more bands and musicians in the future!
If YOU are in a band - or know someone in a band that needs promo shots - let me know, and we can go from there!
